About the region

Znojmo a royal town with a rich history, is the second largest city in the South Moravia Region and the historic centre of southwestern Moravia. It is located on the left bank of the Thaya River, 65 kilometre southwest of Brno and 83 kilometre northwest of Vienna.

With the border with Austria just 8 kilometre away, the roughly 40,000 inhabitants of Znojmo and its surroundings have access to more lucrative employment opportunities in Austria.

Rental housing in the CR

In the European Union, the Czech Republic is among the countries with the lowest share of rental housing. However, experts expect the interest in rental housing to grow significantly in the coming years, following current trends in neighboring Western European countries. According to real estate experts, demand for rental housing in the Czech Republic increased by tens of percent year on year. Interest in rental housing is rising for several reasons. The main thing is rising property prices. Combined with the tightening of the rules for mortgage lending, it has closed the possibility for many Czechs to buy their own properties.

Currently, about 78% of people live in their own flats in the Czech Republic, while 22% of Czechs rent an apartment. However, in the neighboring countries on the west such as Germany and Austria, the share of rental housing is much higher, reaching almost 50%. The rental housing segment with its growing tendency brings an enormous potential to owners and operators of rental housing properties.
